A love of art and photography
Art and photography have always been two of my main passions in life. From an early age I spent much of my time drawing and painting, going on to study art up to A-level. I purchased my first very basic camera from a charity shop at the age of nine and taught myself how to use it, focusing on the local landscapes around me in Devon and Somerset, particularly Exmoor during our annual holidays there (still one of my favourite places in the world).
I went on to study Italian and History of Art at university, which led me to move to Italy for five years and become an Italian-English translator specializing in art. This is something I still do today, working for a number of Italian museums and galleries. Studying art history has given me an insight into different artists and styles, providing me an abundance of inspiration in my own work.

I moved to Wiltshire in 2007 and began to get back into photography after a long break. The local landscape and wildlife have proved a constant source of inspiration for me, and I feel very fortunate to live in an area with so much history and beauty.

A few years ago, I got back into painting again and slowly began to believe that I could fulfil my dream of becoming an artist. I work in a variety of media, particularly watercolour, acrylic, oil and soft pastel, drawing most of my inspiration from regular walks around this beautiful area of Wiltshire with its millennia of history, as well as from the wildlife I see around me. Almost all my pieces are based on my own reference material and experiences, as I think this is important when creating art.
Spending as much time as possible in nature is essential to me. I am particularly drawn to ancient landscapes and locations steeped in history and mystery, such as Avebury with its stone circle, barrows and beech clumps. Trees are another love of mine and I have some favourites that have featured more than once in my art.

I love trying to capture light and a real sense of place in my works, aiming to bring nature’s beauty into your home!
