Tawny Owl by the Hay Moon
This painting was inspired by a wonderful recent walk near Roundway Down in Wiltshire. It was the night of the full moon in July, which was an incredible pink colour as it rose above the freshly cut wheat fields. I prefer to call it the Hay Moon, which is one of its older English names, rather than using a name imported from America. I also saw a Tawny Owl in a tree just as I was leaving, so I decided to combine it all in a watercolour painting
Watercolour and a touch of soft pastel on cotton paper, approx. 10×7 inches in a 14×11 mount. Also available in a rustic wood effect frame.
